This section explains the different Browsers and how to keep them running fast and efficient for years to come and to make your on-line experiences much more enjoyable.
The most common maintenance tip most people are not aware of is the CACHE associated with their Browser. The CACHE is where the Browser stores page information of the pages you have visited. This is normally set to a default value with regards to the amount of information stored in it and, when it becomes full, will make your Browser run much slower and will cause pages to load slower, and in some cases, freeze the page from loading.
Even if you do not visit many pages while surfing, it can still become full. For example, you could only be visiting one site that has different content available when you visit the page. When there is new content available, the Browser not only stores information from your last visit, but also stores information from your current visit, and will continue to store information from future visits because the content has changed and therefore a new value must be added to the CACHE.
Other types of content stored in you Browser are, Browsing and Download History, Form and Search History, Cookies, Cache, Active Logins, Site History, and the list goes on depending on the browser you are using.
Depending on your personal choices with regards to the types of information you wish to save in your Browser will also determine the type of regular maintenance you wish to perform however, clearing your CACHE is one of the services that should be cleaned on a regular basis as it is the most common cause of Browser slow-down and even in most cases, Browser Failure.
For most, you will not notice a difference in page performance whether the CACHE retains the page information or not but the Browser will perform much better when the CACHE is empty.
To clear your CACHE follow the steps associated to the browser you are using listed below.
FirefoxTo clear the CACHE in Firefox, click on Tools, Clear Recent History, and make sure that only the CACHE box is checked and that the tab at the top is set to Everything. (You may wish, or choose to select different options depending on your choices but for now, this is the best choice.)
When you click Ok, the CACHE will be cleared and your Browser will perform much faster for you. Google ChromeTo clear the CACHE in Google Chrome, click on the Wrench Icon located in the Top Right corner of the Browser, Clear Browsing Data, and again, make sure that only the Empty Cache box is checked. Make sure that the tab at the bottom is set to Everything.(You may wish, or choose to select different options depending on your choices but for now, this is the best choice.) Click the Clear Browsing Data Button, and your CACHE will be clear.
Internet ExplorerUnfortunately, because of the lack of choices available with this Browser, (which is another reason it is ranked #3 on my list and is not recommended by me as a choice of browser), all data pertaining to Temporary Files, History, Cookies, Saved Passwords, and Web Form Information, will all be Deleted without the choice to choose which information you would like to keep.
Click on Tools, Internet Options, and click the General Tab. Under Browsing History, select Everything, or choose a time frame for your preferences if you choose, and then click Delete.
